Wilma Abena Boaitey College Admissions Counselor

CW Education (formerly CollegeWise Education & Career Services) was founded in 2008, by Abena Boaitey-Sowah.  The idea to start an educational consulting practice grew out of Abby's genuine passion for helping students discover their individual strengths and passions and align these qualities with their academic goals and aspirations.   Her goal is to empower each student to discover their strengths and interests and find a school that is the 'best fit' for them to grow and reach their full academic and social potential.

In addition to regularly attending education conferences to keep abreast with trending topics and changes in admissions information, Abby has visited over 70 colleges in the U.S, and participated in the IECA Summer Training Institute for Independent Counselors and the UCLA College Counseling Certificate Program.   Depending on a student's location, coaching sessions can be conducted remotely or in-person.

Abby is also a strong advocate for equal college access and persistence, and supports first-generation low-income (FLI) and underserved youth navigate the college application process through ScholarMatch, a CBO dedicated to supporting first-generation high school and college students.

Prior to becoming an IEC (Independent Education Consultant), Abby worked in the financial services and telecommunications industries. She completed her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an MS in International & Higher Education from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She is a professional member of IECA (Independent Education Consultants Association), a member of NYSACAC (New York State Association for College Admission Counseling), and  NJACAC (New Jersey for Association for College Admission Counseling).
